EPISODE 08 - KEN'S SECRET

Wonderful summary written by "Akino Ame"...Thank you!!

We start off at Davis's soccer practice, where he demonstrates his sliding block against another kid. His coach, who looks like a hippie, to me-informs them that their first scrimmage is against Tamachi, the champion team captained by Ken Ichijouji. Yolei looks up the information on him, and Davis decides that he'll try his hardest to at least make it a close game so he can be a living legend. Yolei suddenly develops a crush on Ken, and Cody taunts her about it. However, he informs her that she doesn't want to kiss him, only marry him (don't see how she can do that without kissing him...)

At the game, Ken doesn't show up, and Davis has to play his emotionless team (who look like they're straight out of Slytherin). Davis manages to get his team ahead by one point, and then Ken comes in, proving why he's called the Rocket. Yolei gets all mushy, calling out "Ken and Yolei Ichijouji" (mispronouncing it horribly) while Cody pinches her and she keeps squashing poor little Poromon. T.K. even claims that Ken's like a general leading his army.

Slytherin keeps leading over Gryffindor-er, I mean Tamachi over Odaiba and then Davis pulls his sliding block on Ken, cutting through his right leg (why didn't the kid wear his shin guards? Stupid little genius boy). Odaiba still lost pathetically, but Davis got some glory. He went up to apologize to Ken, who informed him that it was okay (using a Draco-like voice, sort of) and shakes his hand.

Ken: "Well, farewell for now, my worthy adversary. Until we meet again, in battle."

The handshake really made Davis excited, knowing that he is this prodigy's worthy adversary. He even predicts that the two of them will play on the same championship team someday (hint hint). However, Ken is standing on the bridge, thinking that no one will ever become his equal, and that Davis will pay for humiliating him. Hmm, wonder who he could be.

In the Digital World the next day, T.K., Kari, Yolei, and Cody, along with their Digimon, fall into a large hole. Davis is told that they are with the Emperor, and he desperately runs to find them hanging over a stone bridge. After being humiliated and being forced to beg, he is forced to choose just one to save from the hungry Deltamon. The torture is too much for him, and he finds that he can't choose before the hourglass sands run out. Finally, he offers to sacrifice himself in exchange for the others. But just in time, the real Digis show up and prove that the fake ones were Bakemon. The Emperor is furious, and Wormmon swears that it isn't his fault. This only makes me think that he did do something.

The Bakemon are relentlessly attacking the Armor Digimon, and T.K. declares that they're taking orders from the Emperor like a general leading his army. Ooh, deja vu! But Davis runs up and tackles him, while Wormmon declares, "I'll stay and guard the hill!" As they slide down, Davis comments, "You tried to take over the world and destroy me? Well, I'm taking you with me!"

Davis: "You call yourself a Digimon Emperor? What's with that?"

Emperor: "I am a genius! I cannot lose to a child like you!" They both hit the ground and Davis is propelled a few feet away.
Davis: "Like me? You are like me! You're a kid just like us!"
Emperor: "I think not. Deltamon, Triplex Force!"

But before Davis can be barbequed, Flamedramon comes in and saves his life by cutting through the attack a la Van from Zoids and destroying the Ring. From there, the others destroy the Control Spire.

Emperor: "No. What went wrong? My master plan was invincible!" But then it hits him. "I see I've neglected to factor in that you're one of those all or nothing types. I can't believe the same person made me look like a fool twice in the same day."

Davis: "What do you mean twice?" His eyes then stray to the Emperor's leg, where blood is showing thru. "Hey, how'd you get that cut on your leg? Are you...Could you possibly be..."

Emperor: "I could and I am. Ken Ichijouji!" He removes his glasses to prove his identity. Who didn't see this coming?
Davis: "Aw. I'm dreaming! Ken is the Digimon Emperor?"
Ken: "The one and only. Well, Davis, farewell for now, my worthy adversary. Until we meet again, in battle."

Davis is obviously scarred by the discovery of his hero's identity. "I really looked up to you, Ken. I dreamed of being just like you someday. Now that I know you're my sworn enemy, all I can say is, and I mean this: You can keep your crummy autograph!"
