EPISODE 07 - GUARDIAN ANGEL

Wonderful summary written by "Akino Ame"...Thank you!!

We begin with the Digis in this domed city, being attacked by a bunch of Guardromon (Note: they're spelled "Gardromon" for the first two seasons, but I'm going with the Tamers spelling). Deciding that this venture is useless, they head for a TV, only to have it destroyed before Kari can get through. Naturally, Davis starts blaming the last person to come through, T.K., for not keeping an eye on her, and to his surprise, T.K. is blaming himself too. Little Cody can't take any more of this and yells at Davis to shut up because he isn't so innocent either. Yolei starts thinking that she could have done more to watch Kari, and Cody admits that he is at fault as well. But even though Davis accepts this, T.K. can't help but feel guilty. He decides to go into the nearest digiport to Kari's location, and Davis, of course, decides to accompany him. Yolei suggests that she and Cody go after them, but Cody insists that they need to contact the other DigiDestined to try and get help covering for them.

Davis and T.K. end up in the middle of the desert, and in the middle of a fight that would make Tai and Matt groan. Both of them want to go save Kari, and neither wants the other to take the credit for it. Patamon wonders why T.K. and Davis are always fighting, and Veemon explains that it's something about Kari: "Human girls make human boys act kind of weird." Well, finally, Davis flips a coin for it and wins. Confused and suspicious, T.K. takes the coin from him and discovers that it's a two sided coin, like the one he always used to trick Matt. "Did you really use one of those on Matt?" asks Davis. "Of course," T.K. answers. "That's how I got all my baseball cards and his old guitar." (Poor Matt)

Oh, and speaking of poor Matt, he goes out to meet Tai outside their apartments to discuss the situation with their siblings. (Tai got out explaining to his mother that Kari was doing a science experiment at a friend's house, and she needed to find out how long he could stand on his head). Matt's job was to explain to the Motomiyas that Davis would be spending the night at T.K.'s. Unfortunately, he remembers that he left Mimi on hold from America, and her phone bill will be enormous. But wait! That's not it! Remember June from way back in "Iron Veggiemon"? Well, she's back and with a vengeance. Matt tries to explain to her why Davis won't be home, and she determines that he's lying because he keeps blinking. In order to protect his secret, he has to take her out on a date. Without agreeing to it, he finds himself set up for a date Friday night with a girl older than he is. Now how did that happen?

T.K. and Davis finally reach the door to the city, and only one guard is out there. They'll have to take him out. Patamon points out that the Control Spire is on the inside of the city, and because they're on the outside, he won't be affected by it. T.K.: "That's right! That means you can digivolve!"
"Patamon digivolve to... Angemon!"

(Nostalgia, baby!) Davis and Veemon stare in open-mouthed shock at the Champion as he goes forward and knocks out the Guardromon...uh, guard with his Angel Staff (called Angel Rod today for some reason). The Digis enter the city as Patamon dedigivolves, and T.K. proceeds to explain Angemon and Angewomon to Davis, explaining that they're a great tag team. Freaked out, Davis checks to make sure there's no Ange-baby-mon too, which makes Patamon and T.K. laugh. Convinced that the only way to end up with Kari is to forge an attraction between their Digimon, Davis turns to Veemon: Davis: "Tell me you can digivolve into Ange-something-mon too! Ange-dinosaur-mon, Ange-soccer-player-mon..." He then proceeds to shake the poor Digimon. Veemon: "I just don't have it in me!"

Well, after all this, they manage to find Kari, who has a problem on her hands in the form of their old friend Andromon. She insists it's the same one that helped them four years despite T.K.'s misgivings, and Davis interrupts their little lovers' spat. Davis: "As much as I enjoy you two arguing, we need to get out of here!" But Andromon recognizes the goggles on his head as Tai's. See, people, the goggles actually served a purpose!

Halsemon and Digmon enter and start blasting at him until Tai himself comes in to try and stop Andromon, who halts at the sound of his voice. But he then grabs Kari, holding her over his head as he desperately tries to remember the original DigiDestined! From there, Kari's digivice falls off her belt and shines this bright pink light. Andromon remembers, thanks to Kari, and breaks the Dark Ring before reprogramming all the Guardromon. They will all now remain as a fighting force against the Emperor, just as Andromon had done against the Dark Masters. However, more trouble awaits them as they head home...

Izzy is very angry with them when they leave, wondering why they didn't think to call their genius after phoning Tai and Matt. Even Mimi got to know what was going on, and he didn't. They apologize, and he explains that he's learned more from examining Yolei's digivice from way back in "Iron Veggiemon." The digivices not only have a map, but they have three modes: digital, detect, and discover. Izzy and his genius friend in Colorado, Willis, dub them D-3s. He then comments that the new kids should meet him. Remember the name Willis, people. Sure, he'll never show up in the show, but there is a movie to take into consideration...

And as for Matt? Well, he's cooking dinner when his dad, Hiroaki, (no reason why I put in his name other than it's the same first name as Takuya's dad, and we all know who plays Takuya) informs him that some girl named June has made reservations for them Friday at some very expensive restaurant. Matt, unsurprisingly, is less than thrilled. Matt: "This is all Davis's fault! Wait till I get my hands on him!" In his rage, he begins to burn the food. Hiroaki Ishida: "That smells delicious, Matt!" Matt looks down and panics. "Uh, dinner's ready?"

Too bad the episode ends before we learn the answer to the question we needed to know most: Did Matt survive his date with June?
