The moon explodes, wiping out the blue and red ones too and everyone on them. Pleased, Lucemon heads back to the Dark Area of the Digital World while the non-fighting Digis, Bokomon and Neemon find themselves on what appears to be the largest piece of land left from the moon. Though they're in space, they can all breathe fine-even Koichi, who discovered the moon didn't have air back in "The Man in the Moon is You." They don't know where their friends are, and Neemon stupidly wonders if all the flying eggs have seen them. Bokomon notices the eggs and realizes that "Lucymon" must have scanned the data of all the Digimon on the moon. J.P. comments he doesn't see an egg big enough for either of their missing friends, but Tommy sees a strange prism heading their way, guided by Patamon, Lopmon, and Salamon, and containing Takuya and Koji. Takuya explains how the three Rookies saved them, which surprises the others. He then goes on to mention that Lucemon hasn't forgotten who the Rookies used to be, and that he'll be ready for them all next time.
Meanwhile, in the Dark Area, Lucy starts molding this gray D-Reaper thing, talking about beautiful order. (I guess after the D-Reaper's glorious chaos, this is all you have left.)
Koichi again tries to talk to Koji, but pushes the subject to their mom. Koji comments that he made a promise to only call his stepmother that (You heard him yell, "I want to hear more about Mom!" in "My Brother in Spirit"), but he would like to hear more about their mother. Koichi goes into this whole explanation about how their mother is practically Superwoman, working so hard, how there was just the two of them (wait, what happened to Grandma Kimura?), and how she raised him all by herself. In Koichi's words: "Everything she did, she did for me." Koji asks if the reason why Koichi's been so worried lately is because their mother is probably worrying about him, but the older brother doesn't answer.
Meanwhile, Tommy asks Bokomon if the book says anything about how the original Legendary Warrior sealed up Lucemon, but the book only says that they joined forces to seal him and that there are no details. Patamon says the secret is Light and Shadow (what is this, CCS?) and Salamon says that the Light and Darkness have to become one for it to work. J.P. says it must be Koji and Koichi, and Takuya agrees that they have to be the key (of Twilight?). (But somehow, I doubt the twins would want to do the ridiculous fusion dance from the Buu Saga of DBZ.) Zoe then wonders what the brothers are talking about, but Bokomon says he knows. Tommy asks what, and Bokomon answers only that it's about what Crusadermon told Koichi. Neemon reminds Bokomon of his promise, which only makes the kids more curious. Bokomon is forced to break his promise and tell them. Tommy reasons that it has to do with how Koichi got to the Digital World and why he doesn't remember getting there, spurring sympathy from everyone.
Lucemon then uses the weird gray mass to open a portal...
Koji thinks about how weird it is that he and his brother finally met after being separated for-what? Ten years? He figures it's destiny and explains that as Light and Darkness, they're bound together. He then presses Big Bro for answers again, but Koichi denies. Koji then says that he knows something's wrong because they seem to share the same pain (remember how he suddenly looked up in the elevator in "Home Again, Takuya Returns" just when Koichi fell? Now we know why). But before Koichi can explain what happened, a strange tunnel of Fractal Code emerges from the Dark Area. Koichi makes Koji promise to visit their mother, and a surprised Koji agrees. While his brother runs off, Koji wonders why Koichi asked him that.
The Rookies are pushing a fragment of the red moon over to the Dark Area so the kids can get there. They're lucky the tired former Celestial Digimon stopped because a big ball of magma from the Digital World's core nearly hits them. But don't worry-it lit Neemon on fire! Suddenly, they see the portal open to...gasp! Shibuya! Takuya yells out that it's their home, but none of them actually came from Shibuya. Well, we know the evolutions by heart, but they're doing some old ones, so for the last time, here they are:
"Execute Spirit Evolution!"
"Beetlemon!", "Kazemon!", "Kumamon!", "Loewemon!"
"Execute Fusion Evolution!" (Note: this is the only time Takuya doesn't yell "now" during it)
"BeoWolfmon!"
"Aldhamon!"
Lucy says some random villain banter about how the humans don't matter and how they'll be tasting their folly or something like that while the Digis arrive (and Aldhamon seems to call him Lucymon). The heroic music plays. Lucemon says something about using them as his stepping stones (wait, that's Rika's line...and IceDevimon's...and probably Ken's too...) before they all attack. He throws their attacks away easily before blocking BeoWolfmon's attack so closely that the missile launcher starts to burn. Lucy is about to launch an attack from his right hand toward Little Bro, but Loewemon heads over to get blasted with an attack from the left hand. He uses his shield to block it easily, as it's Darkness, but when the attack from the right hand-Light-comes at him, he's blasted to the ceiling. (A friend told me that the right side is considered to be the good side while the left is evil, if that explains things a little better) Lucemon then imprisons the other five in light before sending in the darkness attack. The powers fuse, creating some kind of very painful prison.
Showing the contracted villainous mercy, Lucy stops the attack, revealing the badly beaten kids-not Digimon. Then he says that "Light and Darkness appear to be opposites: never together at the same place at the same time. Imagine what it would take to bring them together, but you don't have to imagine. Allow me the pleasure of showing you, shall I? It's just too bad you won't survive the experience.(" Geez, is this guy the next Myotismon or D-Reaper here?) Loewemon seems to be figuring out, but he doesn't get moving in time to stop the Light from hitting them. But it doesn't matter. Just before the Darkness can fuse with it, he blocks it from fusing. Lucy swears that the Warrior of Darkness can't stop this kind of Darkness, and sure enough, he loses his grip. The powers fuse around him, creating the same prison. But he's not done yet:
Loewemon: "I know now why I came to the Digital World. I wasn't Cherubimon's pawn-I was his greatest gift! Lucemon, you are not the only one who can bring Light and Darkness together!" Lucy scowls like Lucius Malfoy...Wait! Lucemon-Lucius? "I'm glad I met all of you. Thank you for being my friends. I wish I could see you back in the Real World, but I don't think I'll be able to." The kids are in shock after this BlackWarGreymon statement.
Tommy: "What does he mean?"
Loewemon: "Protect our world. That's all I ask."
Koji: "Koichi..."
Loewemon: "I...I think..." Cut to the Real World. Koichi is lying on the floor of the station while all these people look at him. "...I'm ready."
Koji: "No, please!"
The prison disintegrates, revealing a glowing Koichi with the two Spirits of Darkness around him. He floats down to the others.
Koichi: "It's up to you now, Koji. Take the Spirits of Darkness." They come toward Koji, who grabs them and holds them to his body. "My brother, I can't tell you what it means to me to have met you. I have no regrets. No regrets."
His image begins to fade and is surrounded with Fractal Code. Lucemon quickly scans it to Koji's horror. Koji: "No! Koichi!" A sudden pain erupts from his chest, much like after his first evolutions to Wolfmon and BeoWolfmon. The Spirits of Darkness begin to...glow.
Lucemon: "It looks like you can't control it, little boy. I'm not surprised. How could a mere human have the strength to control both Light and Darkness?"
Takuya: "What is happening?"
Koji: "Koichi..."
Lucemon produces part of the image data he scanned and says, "It's a shame your little playmate had to go away. But I'm still here." Takuya: "How could you?" His body actually begins to produce fire! "Lucemon, you've gone too far!" Amazingly, the flaming Takuya surrounds Koji with his power. Koji begins glowing and produces both Light and Darkness from his body. Magnamon, eat your heart out! The others' D-tectors start releasing power a la "A Million Points of Light" and "The Fate of Two Worlds," and sends the power (and Spirits) to the huge fireball. We see a streak of orange power beside a streak of blue or purple power and then the two boys in what appears to be the Internet from part two of Digimon the Movie. They're drawn in the same fashion as Tai and Matt, and actually glowing.
"Ancient Spirits Unite! Susanoomon!"
He doesn't look as impressive as Omnimon, but he's a relief to see. The Warrior of Peace goes up to Lucemon in a Gallantmon Crimson Mode style as the episode ends...
Now...notice the difference below between dubbed (left) and non-dubbed (right). Guess a little skin below the waist was just too much for our innocent eyes....*chuckles*...
