Beowolfmon pursues Duskmon into a vast, cavernous area. Each curious of the relationship between one another. Believing it is destiny for darkness and light to fight, they begin a vicious battle. Looking on is Cherubimon very pleased with what he is seeing.
Meanwhile the other children set out to find Koji. Patamon directs them to a brightness that can be seen in the distance...."That is where the child of light must be." There is no way Cherubimon wants these children to interfere, therefore, he attacks...surrounding them with a powerful barrier of pillars. Even by spirit evolving, the chosen children are unable to get out. Patamon suggests that they dig their way out....good thinking!
Beowolfmon and Duskmon continue to battle, but visions of Koji holds the warrior of darkness back. This enrages Cherubimon prompting him to send out his own attack. Then he turns his attention to Duskmon reminding him of the day he came to the digital world.
Koichi sees himself abandoned, ignored, and lonely. He becomes bitter and angry...darkness surrounding him. Cherubimon awards him with the beast spirit of darkness ... Duskmon evolves to Velgemon.
Beowolfmon awakens to find Velgemon flying above him. Velgemon circles a large area around Beowolfmon and initiates his "Dark Obliteration" attack resulting in a huge crater. Luckily the warrior of light was able to jump out just prior to the attack, but the explosion injured Koji enough that he de-evolved back to his human self. When he attempts to get up (but cannot due to pain), Koji's detector slips from his pocket. Just as Velgemon flew down to finish the boy off, a beam of light emitted from the detector. Ophanimon echoed..."Remember your life in the human world."
Koichi's memories began to return. He remembered the hospital where his grandmother told him he had a brother. Then he remembered following Koji and falling down the stairs. Velgemon stopped his attack and flew off. Koji shouted the burning question, "Velgemon! Who are you to me?!?"
