Trailmon has taken the fleeing children to an underground cavern. Unfortunately, there is no visible way out. Bokomon places Seraphimon's digiegg in his belt for safety. They know that Grumblemon and the others are not far behind.
Suddenly, Tommy and J.P. are injured when slammed with a wall of water caused by a frustrated Whamon. He tearfully tells the children how he was trapped when Grumblemon took the sea's fractal code. Just as Whamon finished his story, a bittered Grumblemon appears ready to take back his beast spirit. He conjures up Golemon and attacks. Agunimon and Lobomon are fighting when suddenly...they are grabbed by Arbormon. Tommy and J.P. evolve, but J.P. is injured, and it is difficult for him. However, Beetlemon is determined to get Zoe's spirit back.
When Beetlemon is hit with Golemon's attack, J.P. de-evolves. Grumblemon takes advantage of J.P.'s vulnerability, but Whamon thwarts his attack with a powerful burst of water. The burst dislodged a beast spirit from Whamon. Grumblemon charges at it, but J.P. is quick to point his digivice at the glowing spirit. Beast spirit evolution to Metalkabuterimon of Thunder!!!
Trying to get the Beast spirit under control, J.P. fires indiscriminately. It was enough to take down Grumblemon and send Arbormon (who had evolved to Petaldramon) running. J.P. evolved to Beetlemon and was able to retrieve the earth spirit as well as Zoe's spirit.
The cavern begins to crumble, but the children are saved by Whamon. Their journey continues as they head towards an island. Let's just see what adventures await them.
