Chapter Three: The Awakening

 

    Just before Daya launched her blade from the emerald Hawk head, a loud voice yelled, “STOP”. Everyone turned to see the girl that had been in the hospital limping towards the girls that had called her their sister.

    “AYA!!!” Daya yelled as she ran towards the older girl. She stopped to see that a blade had cut into her leg and that was her reason for limping. 

    “I am thankful that you’re here but I told you to stay where you were.” She said in a commanding voice.

    “We couldn’t help it!” cried Treiin. “If you’re in trouble it’s our duty to come and help you.”

    “Don’t blame it on them.” Sam stepped forward looking like she was ready to be hit. “I dragged them along mainly because I wanted to see the look on those fools faces,” she nodded towards the Majestics. “And because I wanted to see the Abbey again. It’s entirely my fault so please don’t blame them!” she whined. But as she closed her eyes and prepared to be backhanded, she felt a soft warm hand rest on her shoulder.

    “You did it because you cared.” Aya smiled and for a moment she looked like she belonged somewhere else but her face screwed up in pain. “There’s still a blade stuck in my back somewhere.” She groaned and Treiin ran over to look for it. “Don’t bother.” She said and slowly reached up her back. With great flexibility, Aya pulled the blade from her back and blood covered her fingers and trickled down her arm. She smiled as she looked at the blood. “First blood drawn.” She mumbled under her breath. “But I’ll get you soon enough Boris. And when I do I’ll have drawn so much blood no one will know it’s you under that red mask.” She mumbled as she headed back to the hospital but Kai stopped her at the door.

    “Who are you?” he asked in his sort-of-but-not-so-menacing voice.

    “Right, the abandoner, the disobeyer. You just couldn’t listen to your grandfather and you just had to go and test out Black Dranzer and have your memory wiped and leave the only home you had ever known. Yes, you were the one that made Boris mad and take his anger out on the rest of us. Working us mercilessly. And I still have to wonder why I never wanted to leave.” Aya glared at Kai and this glare was filled with so many different emotions that Kai took a step back. “Get out of my way and leave me alone.” She pushed passed him and looked back at Treiin, Sam and Daya. “You three go back to your countries and don’t do any serious damage. I’ll talk to you later about when to use your attacks and when not to. Especially when they are not needed.” She looked at Treiin and Treiin looked at the ground.  Aya walked back towards her hospital room and went to sleep.

 

    “Wow! Is she always that mean?” Tyson asked oblivious.

    “She has a right to be.” Treiin said looking disappointed.

    The three called out their bit beasts and hopped onto their backs.

    “I’ll battle you another day Robert.” Daya said hopping onto her enormous hawk. Robert suddenly wasn’t so sure he could beat it.

    “Wait! But where are you going?” asked Oliver (he had a thing for Daya before).

    “Following orders.” Said Sam reluctantly. “Back to our countries.”

    “But since you’re here, why not stay for a while?” asked Tyson. He may look dumb but he knew there were questions to be answered and a puzzle to be sorted out.

    “I suppose if you invited us.” Daya thought a loud.

    “Yes we’ve invited you!” Oliver blurted out and turned red.

    Everyone laughed.

    “It would be against Aya’s wishes but since you invited us with such courtesy,” more laughing, “and persuasive words,” More laughing. “I guess we could hold off our schedules. But we know you have questions and we can’t answer most of them because of Aya’s orders.” Treiin said sincerely. “I hope you understand.” She smiled and the others nodded.

    “Right then.” Sam started. “I’ll go pick out a hotel because I am not staying at the abbey again.” She made a disgusted face and giggled.

    “How can you stay at the abbey?” asked Max pointing at her.

    “Easy. Dress up as a guy and don’t do any of their lame tests. I’ve been doing it for years with Aya and it took Boris and his idiots years to find out!” she slapped Treiin in the back and started laughing.

    “She takes pleasure in mocking Boris.” Treiin looked embarrassed.

    “Relax Trei she’s having her fun before Aya gets to her.” Said Daya as if she were a small child.

    “Ya I guess.” Treiin admitted softly.

    Sam found a hotel (one of the nicest in Russia) and everyone went out for dinner together later.

 

    “Soooo…how much can Tyson eat?” Daya whispered to Max.

    “You don’t want to know.” He replied.

    “Oh my gosh this stuff is great!” Tyson exclaimed through a mouthful of food.

    “You can tell?” asked Kenny totally grossed out.

    “Of course I can.” Tyson shot back.

    “So where are your countries?” asked Michael curiously starting a conversation.

    “I’m from China.” Treiin said after sipping some water.

    “I travel from place to place around the Mediterranean often enough. But I do travel through Luxembourg and Belgium to get to the UK and meet some friends there.” Said Daya casually.

    “Well I usually stay in Scandinavia, but I do come to Russia pretty frequently.” Said Sam looking bored.

    “Why is Aya so cold?” asked Tyson after he shovelled down his third plate of food.

    “Something she’d rather not talk about. She may tell you if she feels you deserve to know.” Said Treiin looking sad.

    “Don’t worry about it Trei we’re strictly on vacation right now! But I’d much rather prefer Hawaii or Australia. I wonder how Jason, Jonathon, Jacob and Joel are doing?” she thought aloud.

    “You mean Jacob.” Sam joked.

    “No I don’t!” she blushed and threw an ice cube lightly at Sam who then ducked. Oliver looked a little disappointed.

    “You’ll never hit me rookie!” Sam yelled as she ran towards the door.

    “WANNA PUT MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS!!!” Daya yelled as she threw some food at Sam and hit her square on the head.

    “Why you little!” soon the whole restaurant was a war ground. With food flying everywhere. Luckily the Majestics had reserved the whole restaurant so no one else was there, but the chef was not too happy (even though Oliver had cooked most of the meal).

    Kai had managed to escape and was now waiting outside for the others to come out. Kai listened all around for a minute. It was really quiet and for a moment he thought he heard a horse. But the sound quickly changed to a motorcycle and Kai looked up. It was Aya! What was she doing here?
