Ren is the young Gundalian that infiltrates Marucho's Bakugan Interspace by befriending the Battle Brawlers at the end of the New Vestroia series. He tells them that it is his planet that was invaded by Neathians causing their bakugan to be at war. Of course, the Battle Brawlers hate to see bakugan used for war, and they immediately want to help. His lie was so convincing that Marucho gave Ren full reign over the computer system of Bakugan Interspace. Unbeknownst to Marucho, Ren was programming the system for the personal gain of his leader, Emperor Barodius. Their intent was to recruit experienced bakugan battlers in order to win their war!

Ren's lineage shows that he is a descendent of the protectors of the Dark Bakugan, a group of bakugan that were forced by the Emperor to live underground due to their feared powers. At a very young age, he was assigned to care for Darkus Linehalt and that required living in the darkness. Then one day, Ren was summoned by the Emperor. His Darkus battle skills were exceptional, and he was chosen to lead the advanced troop heading to Earth. This was his opportunity to "escape from the darkness."

Ren is an excellent battler. As mentioned, he battles with Darkus Linehalt. When the battle gets intense, Ren will pull out the Silver Boomix battle gear in hopes of victory.

FINAL NOTE: I have a speculation and here it is: Although he seems bad at this point (episode 11), there are indications that he doesn't really want to follow a path of evil. I think before this series is over, you're going to find Ren siding with Dan and the others. Let's see if my theory comes true.
