In this climatic ending to the Trost Arc, Titan Eren successfully seals the hole in wall Rose marking the first triumph for humanity over the Titans. Unfortunately, many lives were lost during the process including Marco's.
The Survey Corps (Recon Corps) return just in time to not only save Armin and Eren, but to imprison the latter of the two. After a few days, Erwin and Levi are finally able to question the boy. Eren's resolve to kill all Titans impresses Captain Levi, and he welcomes the boy into the Survey Corps. However, Levi makes it very clear that if Eren makes one false move, he will be killed.
NOTE: In questioning Eren, Commander Erwin states, "It's been conjectured that the Colossal and the Armored titan are, more or less, the same as you." Since I hadn't read the manga, that was the first statement that made me go hmmmmmm.....
