Episode 13: The Town Where Everything Began

If only Wall Maria was retaken. Those are the thoughts filling the minds of Eren, Armin, Mikasa and the others as they approach Shiganshina for the first time since Wall Maria was breached 5 years ago. There is two gates that must be sealed, the inner and outer. With that, Shiganshina will be isolated. Any titan left within will be terminated.

Hoods cover their faces so the enemy cannot go straight after Eren. The remains of a fire signal to Armin that Reiner and Bernholdt are somewhere within. Strange thing is that no titans are in sight.

After, Eren successfully manages to seal the outer gate, Armin informs Erwin what he had found. Commander Erwin tells the troops to follow Armin's orders. At first Armin sends everyone to search around the walls, but after thinking about it a while, Armin has a hunch to search the walls themselves. They must be hiding "in" the walls!

The Commander gives the order to halt the mission until the walls are checked. They must check the surface of the walls especially around the gate.

Just as one poor soldier finds a cavity in the wall Reiner lunges and kills the guy. Levi swiftly charges at Reiner slicing his neck and thrusting his blade through his body. Levi retracts when Reiner's lifeless eyes change. What now? Landing on the ground Reiner's rigid body suddenly transforms. Worse yet... titans transform everywhere... including the ape titan. The ape titan pitched a boulder that plugged the entrance so the horses can't pass. Annihilation looks imminent for Commander Erwin and his troops! Who will win this battle?!

NOTE: This episode follows volumn 18 of the manga pretty closely.
