Episode 12: Night of the Battle to Retake the Wall

Commander Erwin, Pixis, Hange, Zachery, and Levi meet to discuss the syringe that Kenny handed over to Levi before he died. Hange is unable to analyse the Titan Serum's formula because of its volatile nature so Erwin entrusts it to Levi in the event it must be used to turn someone into a Titan.

Some time later, Scout leaders meet with Erwin. Preparations are complete: the operation to retake wall Maria begins in two days. He, also, plans to use the Scouts to search the Yaeger family's basement. "Want to know what's in that cellar? Let's go see for ourselves. We're Scouts...that's what we do." He says.. Once the others leave, Levi tries to convince Erwin that Hange should command the Scouts, but Erwin insists on leading the operation.

On the night before their mission, the Scouts are treated to meat for dinner. Tensions are high, leading to a fight over portions. Then Jean provokes a fight with Eren. (When you watch the episode, you'll see that it is Jean who is edging Eren on.)

After Levi breaks up the fight and dinner is over, Eren, Mikasa and Armin reminisce over their past, and reflect on their hopes for a future of life beyond the walls.

On the eve of the operation to retake Wall Maria, the people of Trost gather to cheer on the Scouts and wish them success. As the Scouts ride out, Bertholt and Reiner stand guard on Wall Maria.
