Highlights:

The Scouts have infiltrated the underground church pitting themselves against 35 enemies gathered behind the pillars. Using gunpowder and smoke signal shells, Levi's group proves victorious, but at the cost of a severe injury to Hange. Levi even managed to injure Kenny, but not enough to bring him down.

Meanwhile, Mr. Reiss urges Historia to use the syringe. He tells her the history of Freida. Freida ate her uncle (his little brother) and gained more than just the power as a Titan. She was the only one to learn how this world came about and the details behind it. It took place eight years ago when Freida was 15 years old. He, also, tells her that the power can't truly manifest unless the blood of the Reiss family runs through them. Unless it's a Reiss that eats Eren, they can't become a true king.

Kenny overhears this and becomes angry. All this time he was buying his time thinking one day he could gain full power. Kenny tells Historia that Reiss is just using her. He cuts Eren's head so he will transform, but he doesn't. Reiss tells Historia that she can't just eat Eren, but also she must bite his spine an consume the spinal fluid. Ewwwww!!

Historia wonders, "So if the Reiss family has that power for 100 years, why didn't they eliminate the Titans and liberate humanity? All the while possessing the power to control the titans." A memory of Ymir asking her to live a life that she is proud of plays in Historia's head. She throws the syringe to the ground. "God, my ass." she says. "You're just giving yourself an out and manipulating other people."

As Historia rushes to free Eren, her father licks the liquid that has spilled out of the broken syringe and suddenly, he begins to transform!
